The schedule of Winter Seminars in Race Management and Instructing is drawing to a close however there are still some places available for those wishing to up skill. Both of these up-coming Umpire Seminars are FREE to attend, but you will need to register in advance.

The first round of the 2010 / 2011 WWA Freewave competition will be held in September between 4th and 26th. (which weekend date to be confirmed). The Freewave three-round format is a mixture of freestyle and waves depending on the wind and sailing venue on the day. The Wellington Windsurfing Association is holding its AGM and encourages as many windsurfers - members and non-members, to come along and welcome in Wellington's Spring winds and the new season. Come along, have a drink, catch up with the locals and meet new members.

When Louis Tapper sets out to kitesurf a record-breaking 2000 kilometres along the coast of Brazil, he knows achieving his goal could ultimately be beyond his control. The Wellington adventurer, who works as a banker, left for Brazil last night kitted out with a new kiteboard and a feeling of excitement tinged with trepidation.

Plimmerton Boating Club is looking to get a kid/youth windsurfing programme going alongside its Opti sailing lessons which cost members only $30 for every Wednesday evening 5-7.30pm during daylight saving months, tends to be kids from 8-10 upwards. We are in the process of putting together gear lists and developing grant funding proposals.

NOT SO WINDY WELLINGTON - In fact this year we had to cancel two Freewaves, two Slalom days, grovelled in the Harbour Blast and got lots of use of our other toys at Lake Ferry … that’s 7 weekend days with no wind...

Race between Petone and Eastbourne - direction depends on wind on the day. This is an all in event, you must be confident on the water (water start etc.) but not uber competitive (those guys will gone in seconds).
