If you have always wanted to know more about windsurfing but didn't know where to start.
Come down to our clubrooms at 2pm and check it out. All going well (weather permitting) we will have our learning gear out and will be showing people the very basics required to get into windsurfing.
Learn (on land) the basics of getting started.

Get the season started with an afternoons blasting at the Dunedin Windsurfing Associations Icebreaker event - take the opportunity to rejoin, meet up and get your gear tuned for the coming season. Event format will be Course Slalom if North easterly wind or Figure of 8 if Southwesterly. Skippers meeting at 12.00.
Doesn't matter what level your sailing is at, come along and have a go, or watch and meet the local sailors, catch up with the new seasons gear and more. Racing is the best way to improve your gybes (turns).

39 windsurfers and kiters from all over the South Island descended on Glenorchy on Saturday 27th Feb. for the Southern Lakes Windriders Club’s annual downwinder sail from Glenorchy to Pigeon Island. They were rewarded with a stunningly sunny and warm day. It was a spectacular site at the start with an array of coloured kites and windsurfing sails that quickly dispersed at varying speeds downwind. Winds were gusting approx 25 knots with variable and at times challenging wind conditions.

Windsurfing New Zealand trains windsurfing instructors, publishes guidelines for windsurfing schools and certifies schools that meet WNZ requirements.

One 3-year PhD scholarship (stipend $25,000 p.a. + negotiable costs) is available in 2010 to conduct research which will support the Research Strategy of Water Safety New Zealand (WSNZ). Research Themes: 1. The impact of socio-economic and cultural factors on water safety; 2. Identifying the causes of drowning incidents and the factors that increase survival in potential drowning situations; 3. Producing ‘tools’ to monitor and evaluate water safety strategies. Research Priorities: 1. Reducing the risk of drowning among males; 2. Learning to swim and survive. Location: School of Physical Education, Division of Sciences, University of Otago, New Zealand.
