Its that time of the year again when we ask you to pay your affiliation fee and start thinking about next season. This modest fee helps pay for the event insurance we offer clubs, our membership fees with ISAF, and the costs of advocacy and promotion of the sport.

February proved again that the wind can be very shifty and light. Great for socialising on the beach but more difficult for setting a fair course off Manly Beach.

A Techno competition doubled as the Oceania's and the NZ Nationals. There were four competitors from Noumea and one from Australia as well as a bunch of new local sailors in this class.

Windsurfing tuition runs alongside Junior Sailing on Sundays during the summer months. For ages 8 to late teens.
With the arrival of new gear, the windsurfing season is underway. Coaching times are 9am - 12pm. Meeting at the Sailing Club.

Cost for a junior non member of the boat club : $73.00 + tuition $75.00
Cost for a junior member of the boat club: $30.00 + tuition $75.00
Please note: Tuition pricing is up until Christmas 2012.
Bring your own wetsuit and buoyancy vest.

NorthSails team rider Laurence Carey (Team 10 / NZL-252) from New Zealand won the Auckland Slalom Series. Luke Watson and Jack Holiday placed second equal, Dave Law 4th and Tim Woods 5th. Click through for the full results.

With the new season is just around the corner the Auckland Windsurf Association is pleased to announce a very exciting schedule of events.

The Slalom Series will be back, Freestyle and Slalom clinics will held, a family fun day in Mission Bay, a movie night, Auckland freestyle champs, a windsurf camp in Northland, Junior Freestyle competition, long distance dash for glory races, and much more. Here is the calendar of events

9 September - Slalom Race day 1.
7 October - Slalom Race day 2.
17 October - Movie Night at Berkley Cinema in Takapuna
4 November- Slalom Race day 3.

The latest version plans include closing the Takapuna Beach Holiday Park and a relocation of the National Ocean Water Sports Centre (NOWSC). If you live in Auckland and/or sail from Takapuna you may be interested - submissions close 4th September

Great looking set-up, check out their web site RS:X Techno NZ. They are giving away free lessons so get your friends, especially the ones with kids to call by the stand.
When the going gets tough ... these guys are rising to the challenge and deserve our support - if anyone can think of a way to help them, get in touch.

You are required to be a member of an affiliated club to take part in WNZ sanctioned events - this is a requirement of the insurance cover WNZ provides to clubs. Events may also require you to have a sail number.
