Kendall and Tobin at RS:X European Champs

Barbara Kendall holds 2nd place and Jon-Paul Tobin holds 4th place at the RS:X board sailing European Championships underway in Cyprus.

Just one race was sailed overnight in blustery conditions with winds averaging around 25 knots.

Kendall placed 8th in the only race of the day and holds onto 2nd overall behind Marina Alabau (ESP) who has the lead. Allessandra Sensini (ITA) is just one point behind Kendall in 3rd place.

New Zealand Olympic class sailors seem to have taken a leaf from the Emirates Team New Zealand book with some outstanding performances in the European Championships for five of the Olympic classes.

In the RS:X Mens, Jon Paul Tobin is lying in second place overall after three races have been sailed.

In the RS:X Womens, Barbara Kendall leads the fleet after three races have been sailed.

World Championships Regatta one month away

In just one month the ISAF Sailing World Championships will kick off in Cascais, Portugal. The event will determine 75% of national qualification for the 2008 Olympic Sailing Regatta, now just over 14 months away.

Barbara Kendall and Tom Ashley win Gold in Spain

Barbara Kendall and Tom Ashley won the Neil Pryde RS:X Woman's and Men's windsurfing classes; Andrew Murdoch came second in the Laser Class; and Jo Aleh and Hamish Pepper took thirds in the Laser Radial and Star classes.
