Taranaki Wave Classic 2009

Another year and another Taranaki Wave Classic! This year’s event showcased the best conditions Taranaki can offer, with an insanely epic, mast high, down-the-line, Pungarehu extravaganza!

Windsurfing options - there are more than you think!

  • Techno 293 - the 'junior' Olympic class, the ideal entry for young sailors. The skills learned here will set kids up for any kind of windsurfing, and of course there's always the possibility of yet another Olympic medal
  • RS:X Olympic - the current Olympic class board on which Tom Ashley won the Beijing Olympic Gold in 2008

Taranaki Wave Classic 2009: the home of down-the-line is now on-line at taranakiwaveclassic.com!

August 2009—Spring is fast approaching, and it’s the time of year that brings the combination of pristine south-west swells and consistent cross-offshore breezes to Taranaki, New Zealand’s home of wavesailing. New Zealand’s most popular windsurfing event, the Taranaki Wave Classic, will be held over the October Labour Day weekend (Oct 23rd–26th), bringing together sailors from all over the country (and even further afield) for a celebration of all things windsurfing.
