Windsurfing Event safety check-out / check-in board

At the recent Eastbourne Windsurfing Fun Slalom event we trialled a check-out / check-in board system for managing safety. I first encountered this at the National Slalom event in Dunedin and it worked well, so I decided to try it here. It worked well so here's the details on how to make and use your own (total cost $6)

New Zealand Windsurfing Wave Nationals - results

Chris La Franchie became the 2013 NZ Wave Nationals Champion with some nicely picked waves high up in the break, closely followed by Ferran Crespo in second and James Dinnis taking out third. The juniors also got a result with Hamish Dunning-Beck first and Luke Holliday second. (more)

The Taranaki Wave Classic is continuing to cement its reputation as New Zealand's premier windsurfing event.
Early Bird registration (includes t-shirt) closes 30 Sept. Held at four possible locations around the Taranaki peninsula's legendary coastline, the Labour weekend event will sample some of New Zealand's best wind and wave conditions. All skill levels are welcome with FUN being the main focus, or you can simply come along, chill-out and watch the action. Whatever the weather, our goal is for you to have the best time possible, both on and off the water.

A gloriously sunny day, a light SE breeze, and clean and glassy mast high waves – there could not have been a better setting for the 2012 NZ Nationals (and this was with a forecast that constantly deteriorated over the preceding week!).

Easter Weekend 6th-9th April 2012

The Taranaki Windsurf Club, with the help of Carbon Art, Rodgers Dental and Windsurfing NZ, announces the 2012 New Zealand Wave Nationals.

The 2012 Wavesailing Nationals will be held in Taranaki during the Easter long weekend from the 6th - 9th of April.
The event is a national-ranking, man-on-man wave sailing contest run on the Taranaki coast. Seven different coastal locations will serve as the venue and the outcome will be the crowning of a New Zealand Wave Champion.

The WWA Freewave is firstly a wave event if the conditions allow followed by a freestyle comp if the waves aren't working on the day. We are also planning to run a beach start race before each Freewave event this year too. Hope you will come along and join in. The location, either Plimmerton, Lyall Bay or Evans Bay will be decided on the day and everyone notified on this webpage and also on deepfried.tv. The following Sunday, 29th Jan, will be a reserve day.
